Welterweight DaMarques Johnson Released From UFC After Third Consecutive Loss
Welterweight DaMarques Johnson (16-12) has been released by the UFC following his third consecutive loss.
Johnson announced the news via Twitter early Tuesday morning.
"And the hits keep coming... No longer a UFC fighter," Johnson wrote.
The news comes one week after a first-round submission defeat at the hands of newcomer Gunnar Nelson at UFC on FUEL TV 5 on September 29 — a fight which he took on eight days notice. The defeat marked his third straight, having also been stopped by Mike Swick and John Maguire in recent months.
A finalist on The Ultimate Fighter 9, Johnson has gone 4-6 as a member of the UFC roster since 2009 — all four of his wins coming by way of stoppage.
