Phil Davis Steps In Against Forrest Griffin At December's UFC 155

It will be a quick turnaround for light heavyweight standout Phil Davis (10-1, 1 NC), as he steps in against Forrest Griffin (19-7) at December's UFC 155

UFC officials announced the bout on Friday.

Davis competed at last weekend's UFC 153 where he scored a dominant second-round submission victory over Wagner Prado. Griffin, meanwhile, was originally scheduled to lock horns with Chael Sonnen at UFC 155, however, Sonnen was pulled from the match and tapped as a coach for The Ultimate Fighter 17 opposite Jon Jones.

UFC 155 takes place on December 29 at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena and is headlined by a heavyweight title rematch between reigning champ Junior dos Santos and ex-titleholder Cain Velasquez. Additional bouts include Chris Weidman vs. Tim Boetsch, Gray Maynard vs. Joe Lauzon and Alan Belcher vs. Yushin Okami.

Davis recently stopped Prado in front of his hometown crowd in Rio de Janeiro, seemingly suffering very little damage in a one-sided scrap. Their first meeting two months earlier ended in an accidental eye poke which rendered Prado unable to continue, ultimately ruling the match a no-contest.

Griffin will look to notch his fourth win in five outings after earning a unanimous decision over longtime rival Tito Ortiz last July. The match served as his lone outing of 2012, having only competed four times since 2009.
