Chris Weidman vs. Tim Boetsch Set For December's UFC 155
A pivotal middleweight clash between division standouts Chris Weidman (9-0) and Tim Boetsch (16-4) is set for this December.
UFC officials announced the bout on Friday.
The pair will meet at the UFC's year-end show — UFC 155 — which takes place in Las Vegas on December 29. The card is expected to be headlined by a heavyweight title rematch between reigning champ Junior dos Santos and ex-titleholder Cain Velasquez. Additional bouts include Chael Sonnen vs. Forrest Griffin and Gray Maynard vs. Joe Lauzon.
Weidman remains unbeaten as a professional, including a perfect 5-0 run under the UFC banner. After a successful debut win over veteran Alessio Sakara last year, the 28-year-old went on to best the likes of Tom Lawlor and Demian Maia. In his most recent outing, Weidman viciously stopped Mark Munoz with a barrage of strikes last July on FUEL TV.
Boetsch, meanwhile, has gone undefeated since dropping down to 185-pounds last year. A unanimous decision over Kendall Grove kicked off his run at the new weight class, followed by victories over Nick Ring, Yushin Okami, and most recently, Hector Lombard.
