Wanderlei Silva's Father Killed In Car Accident

Holando Pinheiro da Silva, father of Wanderlei Silva, died in a car accident Sunday afternoon in Castro, Brazil.

Brazil's Band News 96.3FM reported news of the accident late Sunday. 

According to the report, the accident took place between the cities of Castro and Abapa. Silva allegedly collided head-on with another vehicle killing both drivers. A child was also injured in the accident and taken to a hospital in serious condition. Silva's body, meanwhile, was taken to the Forensic Institute of Ponta Grossa in the Campos Gerais region. 

Wanderlei Silva, who was in Las Vegas at the time of the accident, was notified by phone on Sunday and will fly to Brazil on Monday. Silva took to Twitter Sunday evening thanking fans for their support.

"Thanks for all the prayers, all the messages and support, my guys. Sad day. Thanks for your help again," wrote Silva.
