UFC Flyweight Ian McCall Arrested On Outstanding Warrant
UFC flyweight standout Ian "Uncle Creepy" McCall was arrested in Irvine, California on Tuesday, Stu News Laguna first reported. CageReligion.com has since been able to confirm with Laguna Beach Police Department representatives that the fighter was arrested for a pair of outstanding warrant.
According to the report on Wednesday, McCall was arrested without incident for two Harbor Court warrants for possession of narcotic paraphernalia, possession of prescription medications without a valid prescription, and driving on a suspended license. McCall's bail was reportedly set at $16,500.
A later report by MMAFighting.com stated that McCall was charged with driving on a suspended license last June — a violation of a prior probation. The fighter missed a court date for the charge earlier this month and was arrested on Tuesday after undercover DEA agents recognized his car during an investigation in Irvine. OCCourts.com later confirmed that McCall has only been charged with driving on a suspended license.
McCall was transferred to Orange County Central Men's Jail where he will be held for 30 days — until September 13 — at which point he will have a court hearing regarding the matter. The 28-year-old is expected to be released from jail at that point.
A world-ranked flyweight, McCall (11-3-1) recently came up short on the judges' scorecards to Demetrious Johnson last June in a bout to determine the UFC's first flyweight title contenders. Prior to the loss, "Uncle Creepy" fought to a majority draw with Johnson just three months earlier in his Octagon debut.
