Travis Browne vs. Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva Official For 'UFC On FX 5' Headliner On October 5

A five-round heavyweight showdown between division standouts Travis Browne (13-0-1) and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva (16-4) will headline UFC on FX 5 scheduled for Friday, Oct. 5 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The event will mark UFC’s first in Minneapolis since 2008, when UFC 87 broke the Target Center live gate record with a $2.25 million mark.

Additional fights include: The Ultimate Fighter season 14 winner John Dodson vs. highly touted flyweight Jussier Formiga; Matt Mitrione vs. Rob Broughton in heavyweight action; Josh Neer vs. Justin Edwards in a welterweight contest.

Browne remains unbeaten as a professional, including a 4-0-1 record under the UFC banner. The Team Jackson MMA representative was originally scheduled to square off against Ben Rothwell at last weekend's UFC on FOX 4 card, however, the bout was scrapped after the latter was forced to withdraw from the event due to a last minute injury. In his most recent outing, Browne submitted Strikeforce import Chad Griggs with a first-round arm-triangle choke at April's UFC 145.

Silva, meanwhile, will look to get back on the winning track after suffering defeats in his last pair of outings. The former EliteXC heavyweight champion recently made his UFC debut at May's UFC 146, where he experienced a vicious technical knockout loss to former UFC champ Cain Velasquez. Prior consecutive defeats, "Bigfoot" bested the likes of Andrei Arlovski, Mike Kyle and Fedor Emelianenko as a member of the Strikeforce roster.
