Report: B.J. Penn vs. Rory MacDonald Rescheduled For December's 'UFC On FOX 5'
It appears that B.J. Penn (16-8-2) will wait three additional months to take on fast-rising welterweight Rory MacDonald (13-1).
The pair were originally scheduled to collide at UFC 152 on September 22, however, MacDonald was forced to withdraw from the bout after suffering a severe cut above his eye in training that required between 38 and 48 stitches.
During Thursday's edition of MMA Uncensored on SPIKE TV, host Nate Quarry revealed that Penn and MacDonald will finally meet this December at UFC on FOX 5, citing confirmation from a source close to the bout.
Penn will return to the Octagon after a brief retirement which proceeded a unanimous decision loss to Nick Diaz last October. Prior to the defeat, the former two-time UFC champion fought to a majority draw with Jon Fitch and scored a 21-second knockout over Hall of Famer Matt Hughes since returning to the welterweight division.
MacDonald, meanwhile, is currently riding a three-fight win streak and has gone 4-1 since joining the UFC roster in 2010. His lone loss inside the Octagon came against current UFC interim welterweight titleholder Carlos Condit. At just 23-years-old, all but one of his 13 career victories have come by way of stoppage.
