Josh Koscheck Injured, Out Of UFC 151 Bout With Jake Ellenberger
A bulging disc has forced former welterweight title contender Josh Koscheck from September's UFC 151.
The announcement was made during Tuesday's edition of "UFC Tonight" on FUEL TV, leaving the promotion just three weeks to find a replacement to take on fellow world-ranked standout Jake Ellenberger.
UFC 151 takes place on September 1 at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Events Center and is headlined by a light heavyweight title clash between reigning champ Jon Jones and ex-Strikeforce and PRIDE titleholder Dan Henderson. Koscheck vs. Ellenberger was originally scheduled to serve as the card's co-main event.
Koscheck recently had a two-fight win streak snapped after dropping a razor thin split decision to contender Johny Hendricks at May's UFC on FOX 3 card. Prior to the defeat, "Kos" bested the likes of Matt Hughes and Mike Pierce respectively.
Ellenberger too will look to bounce back from his first defeat in over three years after suffering a knockout at the hands of Martin Kampmann last June. The loss halted a six-fight win streak which included victories over Jake Shields and Diego Sanchez.
