A lightweight tilt between division standouts Gray Maynard (11-1-1) and Joe Lauzon (22-7) has been added the UFC's year-end event this December.
UFC officials announced the bout on Monday.
The pair will meet at UFC 155 on December 29 at a yet-to-be-named venue in Las Vegas. The card is expected to be headlined by a heavyweight title rematch between reigning champ Junior dos Santos and ex-titleholder Cain Velasquez, and also feature a light-heavyweight bout between Chael Sonnen and Forrest Griffin.
Maynard recently got back to his winning ways after earning a split decision over Clay Guida last June. The victory came just months after the first defeat of his professional career — a knockout defeat at the hands of former UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar last October.
Lauzon, meanwhile, posted his third win in four outings earlier this month after scoring a submission victory over ex-WEC champ Jamie Varner in a "Fight of the Year" candidate on FOX. With the win came his sixth "Submission of the Night" bonus under the UFC banner, and also his fourth career "Fight of the Night" nod.
