Dan Henderson Injured, Out Of UFC 151; Entire Event Cancelled

In the early morning hours of Thursday, rumors began to run rampant across Twitter that Dan Henderson was injured and would be forced to pull out of next weekend's title fight against Jon Jones — a bout that serves as the UFC 151 main event. By lunchtime, UFC President Dana White had confirmed the rumors.

White held an impromptu media conference call on Thursday to announce Henderson's withdrawal from the event. In an even bigger twist, White also announced that the entire event has been cancelled.

According to White, Henderson sustained a partial tear in his MCL, forcing him from the bout. With just eight days until the event, Chael Sonnen offered to take on Jones at 205-pounds, however, White noted that the champion turned down the fight. As a result, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has cancelled its first event in over 11 years.

Jones will now take on Lyoto Machida in the main event of UFC 151 (formerly UFC 152) on September 22 at Toronto's Air Canada Centre, White confirmed.

September 22 will mark Jones' fourth straight title defense since capturing the crown last year. At just 23-year-old, "Bones" became the youngest champion in UFC history after dispatching of Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at 2011's UFC 128. Since the monumental victory, Jones has gone on to defeat three former champions in one year: Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Lyoto Machida and most recently, Rashad Evans
