Brendan Schaub vs. Lavar Johnson, Mike Swick vs. Matt Brown Added To 'UFC On FOX 5'
UFC officials announced the pair of bouts on Monday.
UFC on FOX 5 takes place on December 8 at Seattle's KeyArena and is headlined by a lightweight title clash between reigning champ Ben Henderson and division standout Nate Diaz. Additional bouts for the winter event include Mauricio "Shogun" Rua vs. Alexander Gustafsson and B.J. Penn vs. Rory MacDonald.
Schaub will look to get back on the winning track after suffering consecutive knockout defeats to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Ben Rothwell respectively. Prior to the skid, the 29-year-old had put together a four-fight winning streak, including victories over Gabriel Gonzaga and Mirko 'Cro Cop'.
Johnson too will look to get back to his winning ways after falling victim to a first-round armbar at the hands of Stefan Struve last May. The loss snapped a two-fight win streak, having stopped Joey Beltran and Pat Barry earlier this year.
Swick returned to action earlier this month for the first time in over two years after suffering from what was believed to be a stomach disease. Upon his return, the American Kickboxing Academy scored a highlight-reel knockout over DaMarques Johnson at UFC on FOX 4.
Brown has found success in his last three outings, stopping both Chris Cope and Luis Ramos with strikes along the way. The recent string of victories in 2012 certainly marks a resurgence for the welterweight who went just 1-4 form 2010 to 2011.
