Andrei Arlovski vs. Tim Sylvia 4 Booked For 'ONE FC: Pride Of A Nation'
Fellow former UFC heavyweight champs Andrei Arlovski (17-9) and Tim Sylvia (31-7) will meet for a fourth time in their careers — this time under the ONE Fighting Championship banner.
ONE FC representatives announced the booking late Thursday.
ONE FC: "Pride of a Nation" takes place on August 31 at Manila's Smart Araneta Coliseum and features a bevy of notable fighters such as Shinya Aoki, Bibiano Fernandes, Jens Pulver and Rolles Gracie. Arlovski was originally scheduled to face fellow slugger Soa Palelei at the event, however, "The Hulk" has since been removed from the bout for undisclosed reasons.
Arlovski and Sylvia first met at UFC 51 in a match that saw the former win the UFC interim heavyweight title with a 47-second submission victory. In their second meeting, Sylvia captured the belt from his foe after scoring an early technical knockout. Sylvia once again got the best of Arlovski in their third encounter at UFC 61 after earning a unanimous decision.
Arlovski recently bounced back from a four-fight losing skid, earning back-to-back victories over Ray Lopez and Travis Fulton respectively. In his most recent outing, the dangerous striker knocked out Fulton with a vicious head kick under the ProElite banner.
Sylvia, meanwhile, is currently riding a three-fight win streak, including a recent unanimous decision nod of Andreas Kraniotakes last November. The former UFC titleholder has found success in seven of his last eight outings — his lone loss coming to Abe Wagner at Titan FC 16.
