Rousimar Palhares Injured; Buddy Roberts Meets Yushin Okami At UFC 150
An undisclosed injury has forced submission ace Rousimar Palhares from next month's UFC 150 card.
Palhares was slated to face former middleweight title contender Yushin Okami (26-7) at the upcoming event, however, Jackson's MMA representative Buddy Roberts (12-2) will now meet "Thunder" on three weeks notice.
Roberts' manager, Ali Abdelaziz of Dominance MMA Management, announced the news early Wednesday morning.
UFC 150 takes place on August 11 at Denver's Pepsi Center and is headlined by a lightweight title rematch between recently-crowned champ Ben Henderson and former titleholder Frankie Edgar. In the co-main event, fellow 155-pound sluggers collide as Donald Cerrone takes on Melvin Guillard.
Roberts was originally booked to face Chris Camozzi on the UFC 150 main card, however, will likely remain on the pay-per-view portion of the event with the change of opponent. The 29-year-old is currently riding a six-fight win streak, including a successful Octagon debut last month after earning a unanimous decision over Caio Magalhaes.
Okami, meanwhile, will look to bounce back from consecutive losses to Anderson Silva and Tim Boetsch respectively. In his most recent outing, "Thunder" suffered a late, come-from-behind technical knockout loss to Boetsch in his home country of Japan at February's UFC 144.
