Report: 'Rampage' Jackson To Face Glover Teixeira In Brazil This October
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's sendoff party may be taking place on hostile territory this October.
According to a report by Brazil's SporTV Globo.com, citing confirmation from UFC officials, Jackson will face countryman Glover Teixeira (18-2) at UFC Rio 3 this October. Promotion officials have yet to announce the bout publicly and could not be reached for comment on Monday.
Teixeira is currently riding a 16-fight win streak, including a successful Octagon debut at May's UFC 146 where he stopped Kyle Kingsbury with a first round arm-triangle choke. All 16 of his recent wins have come by way of stoppage, including 10 KO/TKO's.
The Brazilian finisher was in talks to face Mauricio Rua in 2012, however, Rua's camp opted to turn down the bout.
Jackson, meanwhile, will likely be making his final Octagon appearance after months of publicly expressing his desire to leave the promotion. "Rampage" was originally expected to face fellow PRIDE veteran "Shogun" Rua this summer, though opted to undergo double knee surgery following a February decision defeat at the hands of Ryan Bader.
"Rampage" will look to bounce back from a pair of defeats in his last two outings, having suffered a submission loss in a September title bid against Jon Jones, followed by a unanimous decision loss to Bader in Japan.
