All UFC 148 Drug Tests Come Back Negative; Forrest Griffin Issued TRT Exemption

All 22 fighters who competed at last weekend's UFC 148 tested negative for banned substances such as recreational drugs and performance enhancing substances.

Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer confirmed the test results to CageReligion.com on Friday.

UFC 148 took place on July 7 at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena and saw reigning middleweight champ Anderson Silva successfully defend his crown against longtime rival Chael Sonnen. In the co-main event, former light heavyweight titleholder Forrest Griffin notched a unanimous decision over UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz.

Sonnen and Griffin were required to undergo additional testing to fulfill the requirements of their approved therapeutic-use exemption licensing, which allows the use of doctor-prescribed testosterone for low levels. Both fighters fell within the allowed limit before and after their respective fights.

Pro MMA Radio's Larry Pepe first reported Griffin's therapeutic-use exemption on Friday.

With the testosterone replacement therapy exemption, Griffin becomes the sixth fighter in Nevada to receive the clearance, joining Frank Mir, Chael Sonnen, Todd Duffee, Shane Roller and Dan Henderson.
