Luiz Cane Injured; Rousimar Palhares Steps In Against Yushin Okami At UFC 150
Luiz Cane stands as the latest to join a list of injured fighters that appears to be growing at an alarming rate.
Cane was slated to face former UFC middleweight title contender Yushin Okami (26-7) at August's UFC 150, however, with Cane out, submission savant Rousimar Palhares (14-4) steps in.
UFC 150 takes place on August 11 at Denver's Pepsi Center and is headlined by a lightweight title rematch between current champ Ben Henderson and ex-titleholder Frankie Edgar. Additional bouts include Jake Shields vs. Ed Herman and Dennis Hallman vs. Thiago Tavares.
Okami will look to get back on the winning track after recently suffering back-to-back defeats. A three-fight win streak for the Japanese star was snapped last summer when he was stopped due to strikes by Anderson Silva. A February tilt with Tim Boetsch appeared to be in the bag for Okami until "The Barbarian" scored a late come-from-behind technical knockout, marking only his third loss in five years.
