Nick Diaz No-Shows WJJE Bout Against Braulio Estima
Fans who paid for Saturday's first-ever World Jiu-Jitsu Expo, which was scheduled to feature a "super fight" grappling match between Nick Diaz and Braulio Estima, were left without a main event.
A six-fight grappling event, WJJE was to be headlined by a Diaz-Estima match, however, Diaz was nowhere to be found. Estima arrived on the mats awaiting his opponent for several minutes before event organizer, Renzo Gracie, broke the news of Diaz's no-show to the live crowd and fans who paid $9.95 to watch the event online.
"The truth can only be told by him," said Gracie. "For sure he has his reasons. He represents Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu better than anyone in the fray. Let's wait."
Estima was then offered a last-minute bout against ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship gold medalist Robert Drysdale, but turned down the last minute encounter.
Following the announcement, a visibly upset Estima addressed the situation.
“This is a very sad situation for me, I came all the way from the U.K. Came here, made weight, woke up at 5 o’clock in the morning for one and a half hours in the sauna, made weight at 180lbs," said Estima to the live crowd. "I’m here as a professional athlete, Mr. Diaz supposed to be here, all the things about agreeing for it to be for charity, he doesn’t even show up."
No reason was given for Diaz's failed appearance on Saturday, however, the fighter's trainer and manager Cesar Gracie simply tweeted "Nick is out," minutes before the scheduled match.
The event marked Diaz's first appearance in the combat sports realm after suffering a unanimous decision loss to Carlos Condit in an interim welterweight title bout at February's UFC 143. Following the defeat, Diaz tested positive for marijuana metabolites and has since been suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
World Jiu-Jitsu results:

Kron Gracie def. Victor Estima by one point advantage
Rafael Lovato def. Lucas Leite on points (2-0)
Bill Cooper def. Nino Schembri by decision
Kyra Gracie def. Alexis Davis on points (5-0)
